Project Overview

  • In June 2017, the Cyprus Water Development Department awarded Benecke – Kaliko AG (member of the renowned German colossus Continental AG) and Aerotricity, the installation of a PV solar floating cover on the surface of a reservoir in the outskirts of Limassol
  • The cover helps not only to have better water quality and preservation but also through a thin PV film that is laminated on top, generates electricity for self-consumption and use. The innovative, patented technology allows water storage and self-sustainable electric power production. Advantages also include improved water quality, reduced levels of water evaporation, salt precipitation and the growth of algae,
  • The above application is the first in a worldwide commercial scale and is visited by many interested parties from all over the world.

Project Overview

  • Objective: to develop and implement a pilot nanogrid consisting of a renewable energy source (PVs), an energy storage system (battery) and demand side management (DSM). To achieve that, a turnkey solution consisting of greater than or equal to 40 kWp of building–integrated photovoltaics (BIPVs) in combination with a battery energy storage system (BESS) of greater than or equal to 50 kWh usable capacity and the existing energy management system (EMS).
  • Target: to reduce to the minimum the energy consumption costs and nullify the CO2 footprint of the laboratory.

Project Overview

  •  After a public tender, the University of Cyprus assigned the Aerotricity-Autarsys consortium the implementation of the first ever pilot projects for renewable energy storage systems (ESS) – for both domestic (5 units of 3-5kWp PV systems were installed in pre-selected houses and 1 community system was connected to a Substation where 30 households were connected – half of them had already installed a PV system).
  • ESS increase RES reliability, performance, and competitiveness of electricity generation and transmission to the electric grid. Further they also help in stabilizing the Grid.
  • Based on the advanced Li- Ion battery technology the system installed guarantees 24/7 power supply.
  • The 2 UCY projects were successfully installed and commissioned in early 2018.
  • Aerotricity is the exclusive representative of Autarsys products in Cyprus, Greece, Israel and in other Middle East countries.
